It’s now 2009, in case you hadn’t noticed. As well as being International Year of Astronomy, in celebration of 400 years since Galileo’s telescope, it will be the year we launch Herschel and Planck.
I’m looking forward to finally being able to take data with the instruments I’ve been working on for 8 years, but there is also trepidation about their trip to L2. Will the launch go well, will transfer from LEO work, will everything still work once we get there?
One thing is for sure – it’ll be an interesting 12 months!
